Where am I (physically + mentally)?

Physically, I’m back! Working away, back at the usual hotel. Mentally, I feel like I’m back on track…

What am I striving toward, and how’s that going?

I have been striving towards losing weight and I hit the inevitable. last Tuesday (14/10) I decided that 22 days was a great effort and I gave into my urge for bread, doughnuts and beer. It was not at all keto.

What’s working and what’s not?

Starting with not, and elaborating on the above. A diabetic friend met me in the bar after work and asked me how the diet was going. I had a drink with him and he gets his diabetes blood analyser out. I was barely in ketosis and was so disappointed that I mentally threw in the towel. It sparked a week long carb binge.

What is? I’m looking at last week as a comma, not a full stop. I was disappointed, annoyed even, at my friend. I sulked like a brat for a week, munching and drinking crap, It tasted good but made me feel awful. Then I realised, I wasn’t annoyed at him, I was annoyed at me, for giving up feeling great and having the best focus and drive that I have had in years. So I have decided to draw a line under last week and get back on course.

4. What challenged me today (and how did I respond)?

Making the decision to get back on course was hard and had to be make before 7am. At the coffee machine I pressed the black americano button instead of the latte button.

5. What did I learn or notice today?

It was a phrase from a podcast, “Comfort is the enemy of happiness.” I think its so true and ties into what the author of Dopamine nation is saying – its the book I’m pretending to read at the moment.

6. What am I grateful for right now?

I recently had a great conversation with a friend. I asked for some career advice and I am really grateful that he took the time to help me out.

7. What’s one thing I can do tomorrow to move forward?

Hit the black coffee button again.
